CP Rewritten: In-Game Concert on Thursday

It’s being called by the team “the most ambitious thing Club Penguin Rewritten has ever done”, and nobody is exactly sure how this is going to work; the only precedent for it seems to be takeovers like the Music Jam in 2014 with characters like Violetta.

On April 2nd, at 5pm PT / 8pm ET / 1am BST, a virtual concert will occur on places across the island. It should last approximately 45 minutes.

Update: regarding the date, it is likely on April 3rd BST – the team isn’t sure, but it’s based on the assumption that the group provided the date in their timezone and just transferred it over (thanks SlimF!)

If you’re worried about missing the concert, fear not! A new feature is going to be introduced just for this called room sharing which will prevent people from missing out, but you’d need to be online at the exact time.

I should note the feature will be temporary and exclusive to this event.

We’ll be introducing a new feature to Club Penguin Rewritten for the event we’re calling room sharding. This means that no matter how many people join a room they’ll be able to join in the experience and witness the event live due to multiple copies of the room.

If the concerned room is full on a server it’ll create a new copy of that room for new people to join so servers can hold as much people as possible in the live concert room.

I must admit, I’ve never even heard of this group before, and I’m really not sure how this will work. My understanding is that their music (a family friendly version, at least) will be played in-game, whilst characters visit.

These characters will provide items instead of a background, and will have a similar playercard to regular mascots. Trackers will be established if appropriate.

They’re the real people showing up and a live Questions & Answers [session] with some items given away if you do see them there. They’ll have a playercard but no background given away

I know that a lot of people, including myself, initially thought that this was an April Fools prank. I can assure you that it isn’t, but the details still aren’t completely clear – we’ll just need to wait until Thursday.

Thank you very much for reading, be sure to check back for more of the latest Club Penguin Rewritten news and guides!

Waddle on!

    I think you made a mistake here “On April 2nd, at 5pm PT / 8pm ET / 1am BST”
If it’s 5pm PT and 8pm ET, then it will be April 3rd in BST. And depending on when the 2nd is for you, it might be April 1st for the ET and PT timezones, while it’s April 2nd for the BST timezone.

Not that big of a deal, just made me confused if I should set up an alarm for the 2nd or 3rd hahaha
Thank you for keeping your blog alive for such a long time, you don’t receive many comments but be assured that people appreciate you for it!!

Is it “room sharding” or “room sharing”? Still a little unclear how the event will work, but I am sure it will become clear as it unfolds. Are the band members themselves the characters (do you click them to get stuff?) or will characters visit while the band performs? How many items will be available? Will there be stamps? Given the nature of the event, I don’t know if you can keep us in the loop. Regardless, I am glad it’s designed so that no one will be left out.

“Room sharding” was the term used by Thorn – it could be a typo, or just a fancy name. I’m afraid that for the rest of the questions, there isn’t any information released on it. This really is something new and unique, so I’ll guess we’ll learn as it happens. Sorry! 🙂

The artists’ music is explicit and yet they’re openly promoting it on a game made for kids. I don’t care if they will be playing family friendly music in-game. I know they only have good intentions but still. I don’t think everyone on the staff team was okay with this either, it’s hard to imagine that, not everyone is that stupid.

On the other hand, I feel like this may benifit us as a community. Other servers, specifically Club Penguin [redacted – other CPPS] have been gaining significantly more users. This is very sad to see, considering the horrible things the staff there have done. Players there, especially children are at so much more of a risk. What I mean is: I don’t think the Club Penguin Rewritten staff are bad people, there’s much worse and I wish everyone would see that. Seeing [redacted – other CPPS] get so many more players is very saddening to see, for so many reasons.

To conclude: as much as I disagree with this, I feel like Club Penguin Rewritten gets an unfair amount of backlash for things that are much less worse than what other serves are doing and no one is talking about it.

I want to be very clear that I have been extremely vocal with the Club Penguin Rewritten team about my concern with this – I absolutely share your frustration after reading some of the lyrics earlier today that will be broadcast, so I’ve been hesitant to mention it much on this blog, and I know that not all of the staff team are on board either. I agree with you that the alternatives are sadly worse though.
