CP Rewritten: Additional August Clothing Sneak Peeks

Earlier in the week, the Club Penguin Rewritten team released some sneak peeks regarding the Penguin Style edition for this month. They’ve now also shared two more!

The first sneak peek shows the animation for the Basket of Strawberries, which is a custom item that will also be included in the catalog. The team’s modeller, August Renders, shared the plan animation which shows a penguin munching a strawberry taken from the basket.

The second sneak peek shows a page from inside the catalog, and highlights the “casual clothing” which will be available. Interestingly, it appears to be a slightly older art style which the team are experimenting with.

On a separate note, the team also stated that sneak peeks for the Furniture Catalog will be released later in the month.

    The animation is phat!

Nice catch, Anonymous. Releasing an item in August by August is A-okay. lol The team needs to hurry, though. August ends in a flash.

Re: animation. This is difficult to express, but you will get the gist. I have always wondered why the original developers made it so you had to wear only the special item to achieve the desired result (e.g., special dances, tossing dough, eating strawberries, vanishing, etc.). It was such a pain removing items and then searching for them again. Similarly, I’ve wondered why the removal of items triggered the animation while wearing more than just the special item prevented it. In simple terms: why did no items signal “go,” while wearing items signaled “no go.” Then there were times when you had to wear an ensemble to achieve the special effect (think fire, water, and snow ninja suits). If you were missing just one item from that ensemble . . . nothing.

In writing this, it dawned on me that I guess it would be annoying to wear an outfit that included the special item and being denied the ability to do the regular penguin dance, if that’s what you wanted to do. To make it so clothes + special item = animation or clothes + special item = regular dance would have involved additional programming. Maybe when wearing clothes with the special item, the “wave” icon could have produced the animation and the “dance” icon the regular penguin dance.

I remember always wishing to be able to play an instrument in-game with the corresponding animation while still wearing clothes, but that was never possible. I think your explanation makes sense for a lot of items though. Plus I’m guessing you’re right in saying that it’d require more work!
