Club Penguin Rewritten is Closing Down

I don’t feel comfortable commenting on the situation right now, however the news has been broken. A statement can be viewed on the website here.

Today, February 26th, Club Penguin Rewritten is announcing that the virtual world will be discontinued on March 4th, 2018 permanently. After said date is passed, the game will be offline along with the website All data and accounts associated will be erased for security purposes. Any server claiming to be us will be fake unless addressed on our Twitters @CPRewritten and @CPRSupport.

There will be one last party, The Waddle On Party, which will take place Feb. 28 — Mar. 4.
At exactly Mar. 4, 14:00 Penguin Standard Time (or 21:00 GMT), the servers will be shutdown.
You can check the Clock Tower located at the Snow Forts.

Note to all our players: Thank you. It has been such an incredible ride throughout the last year. We created parties, events, meetups and so, so much love towards our virtual world — Club Penguin. Together as a community we proved that we can bring back our favourite world with life. We are strong and always will be. This closure is not the end of our journey, but a new chapter for new discoveries and experiences. There are several other Club Penguin servers out there that you can find to keep the world spinning. You can also join Disney’s Club Penguin Island to support the official brand. Club Penguin is a community, not one specific game. The world will keep spinning as long as we are united.

Feel free to take a trip down memory lane.

Thank YOU for everything,
— The Club Penguin Rewritten Team

  1. i think the problem with cpr was that it was opened at an uncertain time for the community when cpi was opening, it distracted players from the official game and didn’t give much time for the community to adjust to cpi. cpr should have launched a few months after cpr that would’ve given the community a good choice.

  2. What other Club Penguin servers would you recommend for us to try once you close? We really like being on the old Club Penguin.

    • Well, if you’re looking for a significantly old Club Penguin, Vintage Penguin is a great server with an extremely trustworthy team and I would highly recommend it!

  3. i tried vintage penguin and i dislike it i have to say its nothing like how i expected it to be i still miss cp.. it was there for my child hood and cpr was only the best well i hope it comes out with a new one soon ❤ waddle on!

    • Yeah, I understand what you mean. The atmosphere there is just really different and unfamiliar, mainly because of how old an era of Club Penguin it is.

Club Penguin Rewritten was by far the best, and nothing will replace it. Pengur is a more modern CP, but it’s still done incredibly well, with most of it being custom, so that’s the ‘new one’ that you might be referring too, which hopefully will come out soon!

Wherever you go, I hope you find a new igloo. Waddle on! 🙂

    • Pengur is a more modern version of Club Penguin, however a lot of it is custom content! Most staff members there are/were also staff for CP Rewritten too. I think the best way to show you is some pictures, so feel free to take a look at these sneak peeks which have been released:

The following sneak peeks are things which were planned, but might not come anymore. It still gives a good idea of how Pengur looks like though!

Pengur will hopefully release soon! 🙂

    • Regarding whether or not Club Penguin Rewritten was illegal, that’s not exactly something I’m certain of. However, the CPR team said that it was for educational purposes, and as a result, that makes it Fair Use. They also didn’t make any profit. Whilst I can’t be certain of its legality, I personally think it is legal.
