    Discussion: Card-Jitsu Promises

    April 12, 2016 /

    Hey everyone,

Believe it or not, Club Penguin have said that they will do many things around Card-Jitsu and ninjas. You’ve probably heard the rumour of Card-Jitsu Shadow. Unfortunately, they have failed to deliver most of these promises. Spike Hike said “we have big plans for Card-Jitsu” over two years ago. Today I am going to go over the promises which Club Penguin have actually made.

    CardJitsuShadow_Logo

Although Spike Hike promised Card Jitsu Shadow, he first stated that he wants to bring Card Jitsu to mobile, then he will directly start working on Shadow. This was actually a couple of YEARS ago, yet there isn’t even the slightest sign that it’s coming anytime soon. It is possible that this is an aspect of #ProjectSuperSecret.

Spike Hike also stated that they had to put some of there Card-Jitsu plans on hold because of technology reasons. This could mean that it’s coming to #ProjectSuperSecret. If Club Penguin is becoming 3D like it seems, Club Penguin will probably change what they use to make the game.

In an interview with Spikey2007, he said the following.

2016 is going to be a big year for Club Penguin. Hopefully Spike Hike manages to incorporate Card-Jitsu into the massive updates coming to the island this year. He’s said a lot about it over the last half a decade, but other than Card-Jitsu Snow, not much has been done. One thing I still do hope Club Penguin are going to do with Card Jitsu Shadow is make it a competitive game instead of a game where players work together like Snow.

    Waddle on,

Exclusive #ProjectSuperSecret Sneak Peek: Weekly TV Shows

    April 1, 2016 /

    Hey everyone,

You may remember how I recently posted about a list that Club Penguin is compiling to give sneak peeks and information about #ProjectSuperSecret to bloggers (click here to view the post). Well, I am proud to say that the team have provided us with a major sneak peek for #ProjectSuperSecret!

You’ve probably heard or seen some of the Club Penguin TV Specials. These are animated clips, and are pretty cool yet they usually take a while to make. With #ProjectSuperSecret, Club Penguin intend to make weekly shows! They hope that the shows will eventually make its way worldwide, but for launch it will only be aired in Europe, America and Australia on Disney XD.

However, the great thing is the plot! Club Penguin have told me what each episode is going to be about. It will feature Herbert doing some sneaky plan, and the Elite Penguin Force agents trying to stop him! The TV show won’t be related to the game, so we won’t be doing those missions online.

They have also provided me an image with a scene from one of the first few episodes.

    #ProjectSuperSecret Image

This is a reason for why #ProjectSuperSecret is taking so long. They want to have a full season created. Although I don’t know how many episodes are in a season, I expect it’s a lot!

I must admit, this looks like a really cool addition to the world of Club Penguin!

Only one problem, I doubt it’s happening. Happy April Fools Day!

Discussion: #ProjectSuperSecret will Doom Club Penguin

    March 7, 2016 /

    Hi guys,

So a lot of people, including me, have been extremely excited about #ProjectSuperSecret. We already know that a 3D design will be coming to the island as well as numerous other cool things. However, as of a few days ago, I’m no longer excited. I’ve already written a post on how #ProjectSuperSecret could be dangerous for Club Penguin, and now I’m certain that it will doom it. Let me explain why.

You may have read the post about #ProjectSuperSecret coming to mobile, however not many people suspected that it’ll be fully for mobile. Well, Tomisino1 showed me an article on a website called TechVibes. This is what the article said, though the most interesting bit is in the last few paragraphs:

The BC Tech industry is big, and beautiful. So it’s always a little painful when the “L” word is thrown around. Layoffs hit the Okanagan heavy-weight today, and more will most likely be on the way.

Twenty-eight people were let go from Disney’s Kelowna office this morning, and the company is a being a little tight-lipped about why. A voice from inside the studio tells me that it’s due to the new direction of one of their biggest projects. Those laid-off by the mega-studio were long-standing faces in Kelowna, including names from QA, Programming, and Art Teams on the Club Penguin project.

The flash flood of popularity seen when Club Penguin came out was the reason Disney purchased the office in Kelowna to so many years ago. Now, the towers against the highway in the “capital” of the Okanagan are home to a slough of Disney personnel. After cuts in LA a few years ago, almost all of the companies Technical/Customer support is now done in Kelowna.

With these layoffs, it’s clear Disney Canada is looking to do something fresh with the popular franchise.

Originally created by New Horizon Interactive, Club Penguin is a child-safe social interactive game, and platform. The world is vast, the lore is deep, and the teams that build the game paid close attention to their ecosystems and environments. Which translated into immense success, and a devoted fan-base. Now, the 11 year old game is being phased out by Disney, who bought New Horizon for $350 Million in 2007.

The studio claims to be working on a new Club Penguin, one primarily in 3d, which has led to the departure (desired or otherwise) of the majority of their 2d art team.

It’s said that Club Penguin 2 (not the actual name) is being developed for Mobile, as more and more kids have access to the tiny devices. Which is understandable. The monetization regime of mobile games is usually far more user-friendly when compared to it’s PC counterpart.

We look forward to hearing more from the studio in Kelowna about it’s next project, and hope that those affected by their change in development direction find new studios in no time!

What this means is that Disney have laid off (fired) more people, except this time they claim it’s because they don’t need their 2D artist team. I think that this suggests the end of Club Penguin for the web, especially since the articles say it’s being developed for mobile. I’m sorry, but Club Penguin cannot survive with just mobile.

    App size

Firstly, the size is already 187MB large. That’s already the heaviest file on my device, and just remember this is without a bunch of mini-games etc. Imagine if Club Penguin wanted to add the whole island to the app and cut the Web version. That could easily exceed 1GB, which means that Club Penguin is bound to have to cut some stuff. If we thought that they were adding things, we were wrong.

Secondly, they claim that mobile is more user-friendly and more kids are likely to use them. Unfortunately for them, I have evidence that proves otherwise. I used a website which claims to give an accurate estimation on how many downloads an app has or how many visits a website has. Take a look at the results for the Club Penguin app.

App5-10 million. Not a bad number. But now take a look at the website’s stats.

    Website

12.30 million… Yeah, you could say that people might log onto the app numerous of times. The website one counts total visits, but the app only can count one visit since you can only download it once. Well, that’s true but notice how the app says “Total Installs”. However, the website stats only show the total number of visits ONLY in January 2016. I’m sorry, but I don’t get your logic here, Club Penguin.

I’m not the only one who dislikes this idea either. This was just a quick poll I found whilst researching some more information about this topic. Have a look at it!

Not only that, but I kept searching on Twitter for tweets by people who think that Club Penguin cannot survive on mobile. I found quite a lot, and it just goes to show how so many people use computers to play Club Penguin. If they switch to mobile, Club Penguin is doomed.

Horrible idea with having just a mobile version for #ProjectSuperSecret, @clubpenguin should make an exception. Many enjoy desktop.

Well that's Club Penguin screwed then.

Judging from these tweets, as well as many more which I did not feature, the idea of switching to mobile isn’t very popular. Hopefully Club Penguin read this post and notice how a larger portion of their audience actually use a computer to play the game rather than a tablet or a phone.

    Discussion: #ProjectSuperSecret on Mobile

    January 13, 2016 /

    Hey everyone,

In case you missed it, Club Penguin uploaded a “Best of 2015” video a few days ago which you can watch by clicking here. They also shared quite a few scenes about the future and I have a really interesting plot that I posted a while ago so scroll down to view it! Anyway, enough about that. So today I want to talk to you about #ProjectSuperSecret coming to mobile.

Why you may ask? I mean, the island is already 3D right? Well, don’t forget that the 3D thing is the main bit of the project. A few months ago, Club Penguin realised a sneak peek on a clothing customiser that allows you (probably only if you’re a member) to design your own clothes. This will be a part of #ProjectSuperSecret. If you watched the video (if you haven’t, I highly suggest you do), you would’ve noticed this:

    PSS

The image isn’t taken on desktop and you can see clearly that it looks like a phone or a tablet. This confirms that the clothing customiser will be available all across the island. The other peculiar thing is why you are able to chat. I mean, when you’re editing your igloo you cannot chat so why is it different with a penguin? Somehow I doubt that your message will appear in the game but you can’t see it because you’re busy customising your design. Same with the symbol of a penguin’s face which I suspect is emotes.

On the topic of emotes, are those new emotes next to the sick face? There isn’t currently a disco ball emote yet so perhaps Club Penguin is intending to add some more of these. What do you think? As always, I appreciate you commenting below and reading these discussions. Also, in case you’re interested, I’ve added two images to the sidebar that say “Discussions” and “Ideas”. If you click these you will be able to read all the posts in that category. The auto-playing music is also gone because it could sometimes be quite annoying.
