Club Penguin Rewritten Team Issue Farewell Message

The last two days have been difficult for many in our community, but probably especially so for the Club Penguin Rewritten team. Although they released a couple words about what happened, they’ve now released a more formal farewell message on their social media accounts.

Thank you for the kind words and support. We will always make video games, and we hope that you stick around to see that. Obviously, we plan to make our own games that will never be related to Club Penguin – we will continue to create things. All we can say is thank you for giving us the chance to give you all a place you could call home.

-Club Penguin Rewritten team

I think it’s slowly starting to sink in that this really will be the closure of Club Penguin Rewritten. I will have a proper post about what comes next for this blog within the next week or so, and I’ll keep you updated if the team say anything else.

Waddle on!

Torres PLEASE don’t delete the blog or stop blogging! It’s so sad that CPR is ending, but to lose you and this blog…it would be WAY too devastating for all of us. Please, find another way to keep the blog going. Your posts bring me SOOOO much joy, and whenever I’m in a bad mood, and I see in my email that there’s a new post, I automatically feel better. I’m so sad about CPR, PLEASE don’t end the blog Torres PLEASE. This blog is like another home to me. Please just don’t end it please. You are such an incredible person and I really REALLY enjoy reading your blog posts. You inspire me in more ways than one. I love you Torres, you truly are an amazing person and you should be very proud of this blog. ❤❤

    • Torres 126

That’s really kind of you, thank you. 💜 This blog won’t close, in the sense that you’ll always be able to view the old posts, but I’m not sure what will be the future in terms of new posts – I promise to make an update next week though!

      • Josephc16

I have been playing club penguin since 2012. My older siblings have been playing before that. When Disney shut club penguin I was so sad until I heard that club penguin rewritten is coming out. My account was 4 years old and my brother’s account was 5 years old. I came here when a penguin told me about you in quarantine. Ever since then I have been checking this website everyday. This was my favorite game. I guess this is the end. Have they deleted the accounts yet or are they still holding my 4 year old account in case some day it reopens?

    • Jetranger

Torres! Even though I’m still mourning the loss of Club Penguin Rewritten, I have heard of this site that seems promising to check out. I think it’s called Box Critters. I’ve seen videos of it and it seems relatively similar to Club Penguin! Maybe you can check it out and see if it’s worth blogging about.

      Jetranger

      • Torres 126

Box Critters is founded by one of the Club Penguin co-owners, and I actually even had a go at creating Box Critters Mountains a few years ago! But I feel like it’s a little incomplete with pretty irregular updates at the moment, which makes it difficult to blog about.

Rocket Snail has stated he’s entering another phase of development, so perhaps the wrinkles will be ironed out, and more will be added.

          • Torres 126

Yes, and I’m sure it will continue to grow…I’m just not sure there’s as much appetite for a virtual world that isn’t Club Penguin anymore. I guess we’ll see how it goes!

      • Torres 126

I’m afraid that I just don’t know, but probably not – I’m not sure on how safe it is, whether it’ll just be taken down as Disney tightens their grip, or whether I even really feel like waddling onto another server given how special Club Penguin Rewritten was.

        • itsdoofus

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. If running ads was the straw that broke the lawsuit camel’s back for Rewritten, then surely NewCP is next in line to be taken down. It’s also hard for me to invest the energy into a new account knowing it can be taken down any time without warning.

It’s been fun, but I think for a lot of us, it’s probably the end.

        • Some name

The truth is Torres only wanted CPR to exist. NewCP is pretty much cooler with new stuff and parties and it doesn’t make money off. But she is attached to CPR and that’s gone!!!!

          • Torres 126

I’m not denying my attachment to Club Penguin Rewritten! I’ve been there since the day it started, so you’re probably right. But I’m afraid that – even though I’m actually quite a fan of modern Club Penguin – there doesn’t seem to be another server which offers regular updates or a community that even remotely compares to Club Penguin Rewritten. I’m somewhat sceptical about the money claim too.

  • Greenysiddie

It’s really heart breaking! And i think what Disney did, is really disrespecting the community that was created by them. Hope the admins are safe and face the case legally!

    • Spork737

Yeah, Thats why I like companies like Sega- The mobile remakes of the early Sonic games were made by a small company as a passion project- that Sega hired to help make Sonic Mania (One of the most loved sonic games ever,)

  • St Ransor (@TheStRansor)

Hey Torres, St Ransor here. Remember your old blogging buddy from back in the day? It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I’ve not been active or in the CPPS community for the past 2 years since I’ve kind of moved on now, but it certainly doesn’t stop me from checking back every now and again to see what’s been happening within the community, and CP Rewritten as a whole.

That being said, to know that CP Rewritten really is closing its doors for the last time is devastating to hear.

I can imagine that this would be a stressful time for the CP Rewritten staff knowing that they’ve put in a lot of effort into reviving everybody’s favourite childhood game – only for it to be taken away from not just them, but from the community as a whole.
I can also imagine that this must be challenging for you as well, knowing that you are a blogger so dedicated to the game and the community.

I’m not sure what your plans are now from this point forward, but I just wanted to come back and say that your consistency and commitment to this blog over the years never ceases to amaze me. Your passion for the community really shows through all the work that you do in this blog, and by that I am genuinely astonished. It’s obvious to me that you indeed are a terrific role model when it comes to consistency and hard work, and it goes to show that with consistency comes good success, a moral that everybody can learn from. No doubt, this blog is definitely amongst the most successful Club Penguin news sites ever created in Club Penguin’s history, and I say “well done” for that.

    (̶I̶f̶ ̶o̶n̶l̶y̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶s̶a̶i̶d̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶C̶l̶u̶b̶ ̶P̶e̶n̶g̶u̶i̶n̶ ̶M̶e̶t̶r̶o̶,̶ ̶l̶o̶l̶!̶)̶

Whatever your plans are for the future man, I want to wish you the best of luck in it all.
But please if you are able to, do me one more favour: I’ve lost my 2FA code for Discord so I’m locked out from the CP Rewritten Discord. If possible, please tell them all I said that I said hello and that I’m remembering CP Rewritten at this difficult time.

    • Torres 126

Hi, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen you around but I definitely remember you! It’s nice to see you around again, even if the circumstances are pretty sad with Club Penguin Rewritten closing once again. Thank you very much for your kind words, and I’m sorry that Club Penguin Metro never quite got the attention which you deserved – I enjoyed reading your magazine publications!

I’m afraid that the Club Penguin Rewritten Discord has now been basically been closed; there’s just one announcement channel detailing the closure, and it’s not possible to send a message there, so you’re not missing out on much. I’ve passed your message onto Larry! though, who I think you may remember, and he wishes you well.

I hope that you’ve been keeping well ever since you’ve waddled on, and been enjoying whatever you’ve been up to. All the best! 🙂

If the team ever makes a Club Penguin-esque game with the upgraded housing system like in Rewritten, I would be very interested in playing that. There just aren’t very many options when it comes to games with a customizable housing system. Only problem is that most online chatroom games have gone out of style. A big majority of people played Rewritten only for Club Penguin. However, if they did manage to make a game similar to Club Penguin, I think it still would be fun judging by the custom content that was on Rewritten.

    • Torres 126

Agreed – that is the risk with games like Club Penguin, since people may only have been keen on the fact that it was actually Club Penguin. I suppose it’s one of the reasons why there hasn’t been a big competitor to Club Penguin since it closed; the days of virtual worlds might just be in the past. But they are a talented team and hopefully they can put together something enjoyable over time!

  • Spork737

It’s sad how greedy Disney is- I don’t see a point in taking down a fangame of a property that hasn’t had a working game in years. It’s like having toys you don’t play with and are in great condition, but you get mad when others try to play with it. Disney has zero care for anything these days.
Still, I’m gonna play whatever the CPR team comes out with. Maybe just CPRewritten, but using original characters and plot, and the same ideas (Like monthly parties, houses, etc.) but with dogs or something. If they do something, just let us know.
I thank you Torres. Waddle on, sir. See you on the other side(Even if we don’t know where or when it leads, haha.)

  • Anonymous

Disney just ended the best club penguin ever, never will forgive them 🙁 Thank you so so much, Torres, for all your posts through all these years <3

  • Qbzapu

I haven’t been actively caught up with new CP news in general, so this one genuinely shocks me. It’s been years I left the CP community so back then checking up this blog whenever I’m bored was just one of my favourite pastime, until I saw some couple of posts of what’s going on with Rewritten. This is genuinely sad.

Torres, I know this might seem out of topic, but now that Rewritten is gone, are you considering to continue blogging about other related private servers? Or maybe a change of pace, like other games than CP?

Whatever your decision is, the choice is yours to make. Thanks for keeping this community alive.

I’m not sure about the future of this blog yet, but I will have a post about it all within a week or so! Thanks for checking back and for reading – all the best. 🙂

I will miss my 4 old account that always made me happy. I have been playing Disney’s club penguin since 2012. My older siblings played before that. When club penguin rewritten came out my sadness became happiness. I played on my brothers account at first. His account was 5 years old. After a year he helped me made me my own account. My account was 4 years old and we both always loved club penguin rewritten. My oldest brother would play on my account sometimes. He really was an original Disney club penguin player. So too was my other older brother and me an original Disney club penguin player. The three of us loved the game so much. I hope they somehow can still reopen the game. Did they already delete the accounts? I hope not. If they didn’t please reply to me, Torres126. I guess this might be the end of club penguin but I hope someday it will be brought back. A penguin told me about this blog in quarantine. Ever since then I have checked it almost everyday. Thank you for always posting and helping me meet mascots!
    — Josephc16

    • Torres 126

I would assume (but I don’t know) that there would be a database back-up, but I don’t think that the game will re-open again. Thank you very much for reading this blog – it means a lot, and I wish you all the best. 🙂

  • PENCIL988

I DON’T WANT THIS TO be the end!! just because there were ads it doesn’t mean it should’ve just disappeared from existence. it doesn’t make sense! But I was only hoping it would come back without the ADS so it can RUN😬😭BUT. Even worse is I had 1 mascot left to get, Jet Pack Guy, and never again😵

  • Anonymous

Hi Torres just want to say that you are the best. I NEVER met any mascots. So with PH and Sensei meetup times was totally amazing. I had so many fun memories. This just makes my heart hurt the CPR shut down. And please don’t stop blogging. Maybye you could start blogging on new club penguin. Besides, it is not Disney’s fault. When CPR was created, Disney said to CPR as long as you don’t make money out of it, we will allow it. But CPR put in ads which made them money. So techanichally it was CPR’s fault. But that’s what my brother said. I’m not sending hate or anything, Torres you are just amazing thank you for the memories. Waddle On (=

  • Karen Connelly

I have a suggestion for the CP Rewritten team: make a desktop app like Toontown Rewritten. Toontown Rewritten doesn’t rely on third-party ads like CP Rewritten did, and that’s probably why it’s still operating.

      • Anonymous

Probably a valid idea for the team’s future projects. They hinted at something that “Would not involve penguins.” (It would still be nice if a penguin shirt was added to secretly honor their past, assuming it’s a virtual world style game.)

  • Ifdowajewoa

It’s a sad day for the Club Penguin community. Hopefully we will all do well in future endeavors.

    Waddle On,
    Ifdowajewoa.

  • VideootVsevy

It’s crazy realizing that there is no Club Penguin Rewritten anymore 🙁
But, like somebody sang:”Thank you for the music…”, I want to sing thank you Club Penguin Rewritten for all good memories, and Torres 126, enormous THANK YOU for keeping me and other penguins updated on everything =)
and to penguins who have gone into despondency, stay strong!!! Life still goes on!!! 😉

  • Blue0331

Thank you so much for everything, Torres 126. I played the OG Club Penguin all the way back in I’d say 2006 or 2007, and I continued playing all the way to Club Penguin Rewritten in 2019-2022, so this is probably the end for me. I’ve already lost three Blue0331 penguins in the past– 1 in OG, 1 in an old Club Penguin remake, and now 1 in Club Penguin Rewritten– so I’m really exhausted. I’ll create Blue0331 in New Club Penguin, but I won’t be very active on that website due to the fact that it will be taken down eventually. It’s been fun, my dark blue penguin boy, but I’m 21 now, and I should move on like I moved on from Toontown and Toontown Rewritten. Disney won’t stop; they never will, so long as there’s money in their sights. 🙁 Again, thank you so much, Torres 126. Waddle on, dear friend, and don’t forget that I PayPal’d you for a postcard. <3

    • Torres 126

That’s quite a journey, and thank you very much for reading and letting me be a small part of it. 💜 You’re right that this isn’t the first time Disney has done something like this, and it almost certainly won’t be the last either.

Will send the postcards by the end of the month – thanks for purchasing one!

      • Blue0331

Sorry for never replying. I’m curious about whether there’s a possibility that we can be friends somehow. 🙂 I’ve been into your blog for years now, and I think we might have something in common due to our Studio Ghibli profile pictures. Do you have a Discord, perhaps? It’s such a shame that there’s a chance we may never talk again.

  • JBear3

I have never replied to your blog before but I honestly LOVE seeing your give aways and updates about cpr and all this. When I was younger, I had a penguin and during quarantine got back into the game. Quarantine is also when I was told about your blog and honestly it has been so nice following you!! I remember there was a brief moment when you stepped away to think about continuing and I was crossing my fingers that you would but with this news I totally understand if you are going to be taking a more leave of absence. All we can do now is hope cpr team can continue not necessarily with cpr but something similar (and even if they could do that then considering the times its taken to update the game, a new game would probably take a long time). Whatever you choose to do I will continue visiting this cite and follow you on this journey. Thank you for helping me through quarantine and I hope you never stop blogging!! <3

    • Torres 126

Thank you so much, I’m really grateful for your support and taking the time to read! There will be a more definitive post about this blog next week or so. All the best in the years ahead. 💜

  • Anonymous

Well this has took a HUGE toll on my mental health. I fear that I’ll never be happy. Cpr helped me mentally and physically. I’m beyond gutted it’s gone. I hope my pain won’t last forever but until then I’ll forever be in pain and distress💔😔

    • Torres 126

I’m sorry to hear that it’s been especially rough for you. I assure you that it will get easier over time – I remember how painful it was when Club Penguin Rewritten first shut down back in February 2018, but it slowly does heal. Take care. 💜

  • Katherine

Thank you, Torres, for making this blog. I know that CPR has impacted many of our lives. We considered CPR to be a second home; a safe place to be when we needed to take our minds to a happier place. I hope this blog continues as a place for Club Penguin fans to come together and hang out. I know it is not the same as playing the online game, but it’s as close as we can get as a community. I wish you the best of luck in the future.

  • Psix pengy new

Hi Torres. Remember me? I used to be pretty active on here. 9 year old me absolutely loved the game, and although I don’t play anymore, I actually cried when I heard about it’s shutdown. I’m too young to have a discord, so didn’t get the message. Goodbye to everyone on here, and I hope you all manage to cope without CPR. I want to thank 2 penguins I became friends with on the game, who were Pengy 2000 and wujuverse. Waddle on,
    Psix Pengy

  • Unknown

The real truth is CPR decided to go with ads that’s why Disney caught them. Because it’s wrong making money out of someone else’s content. These words are rude but the bitter truth!

  • Joanaray125

I really appreciate all the hard work, Torres. I feel this probably is a sign to move on to other stuff 🙁 but still, my experience in cpr wouldn’t be the same without ur website. It was good while it lasted!! Happy we all got to taste a little part of our childhood. Waddle on, my friend 🙃

  • Jess

I’m gonna miss checking this blog or checking cpmountains on Twitter every now and then for updates and mascots. I had a fun time on CPRewritten and I just wanna say, I really appreciate all the effort you put into the blog. Thanks Torres, maybe we’ll see each other in other games

    Waddle on!

  • Anonymous

Even though I haven’t been playing CPR recently, it’s still heartbreaking news. Best wishes for you and the team <3
Do you know any other safe private servers? NewCP and CP Chapter 2 are the only ones that you don’t have to download, and CP Chapter 2 seems the most similar to CPR but it looks pretty small. But even if it turns out they aren’t safe, it should be ok as long as you use a secure password and don’t enter any information. What are your thoughts? 🙂

    • Torres 126

Many thanks, and all the best to you. I’m afraid that I just don’t know anything about New Club Penguin – I’ve heard rumours that it’s unsafe because it has a lot of the team behind Club Penguin Online, but I’m not sure at all. I actually know the person who created CP Chapter 2 and think very highly of her, but you’re right that it’s quite a small private server.

Your general principle that you should be fine provided you use a secure password (and one different to any other accounts!) and an email without personal information is pretty solid though!

      • Anyone

If you don’t know about NewCP don’t say it has CPO members. Rumours are rumours if you pay too much attention rumours you will miss the truth. I don’t get why you have so much inclination towards CPR when it also had data breaches. I loved both CPR and NewCP. Don’t discourage anyone to try out different CPPS just because CPR is over.

        • Torres 126

I have done my best to give a set of safety tips to protect people, which I think is the right thing to do. My understanding based on those who are more involved in the CPPS community than me is that it does – and I can only go off the expertise of others. I haven’t explicitly said to anyone “don’t play this server!”, but I genuinely think it’s the right thing to provide tips on being cautious. On the other point, I don’t think it’s particularly fair to say that I hold blind inclination to Club Penguin Rewritten when we had several disputes privately and sometimes publicly, including about the database breaches!

    • Katherine Pollock

I just created an account for CP Chapter 2 since it looks closer to CPR, but I can’t say it’s the same.First of all, it is very early in the process, as most games are not available. It’s also very quiet. I saw 2 other players on the Blizzard server. Maybe it will become more popular as time goes on, but I’m not sure.

      • Torres 126

I think CP Chapter 2 was always created in mind to be a fun little project, as opposed to a server with a thriving community, so I totally get why you say that…but I’m afraid that might just be the kind of server it is.

  • Valennina

well, this is just sad 🙁
i never thought i was gonna miss an online game but guess i do, weird since i didnt even spend that much time in cpr bcuz of school (and language barrier at first, i couldnt really understand english during 2017-2019)
also thank you for this blog and the trackers :] all the mascots i met are thanks to your trackers !

    • Torres 126

I hear you! I hadn’t played Club Penguin Rewritten much over the last year either, but this still really hit me. Thank you for reading – I’m glad that this blog could be a little help in brightening your time on the island! All the best going forward.

  • Club15

So, this is why I can’t get on Club Penguin Rewritten! It’s shutting down like the original Club Penguin and Club Penguin Online. We’ve had the puffles for a bit and now it’s going!
