Club Penguin Rewritten: Future after Flash Unveiled
For the first time, the Club Penguin Rewritten team have unveiled in extensive detail the direction which the game will take as browsers begins to retire Flash. For those unaware, Flash is the technology on which the game is reliant. There’s quite a few technical terms in this post, so I’ll try to explain.
Effectively, Club Penguin Rewritten will be migrating to a new platform. A lot of this will require recoding/reprogramming how the game works, though there’ll be public tests in-between.

HTML5 will be a slow transition with quite a few public tests in-between. Our main aim is to have basic functionality like rooms, igloos first and then slowly add on other stuff.
-Thorn, Club Penguin Rewritten administrator
On when these public tests will occur, Thorn has stated that they can be expected to occur “soon”. It has been stressed that the transition will be slow and not something that happens overnight; features will be added to the new version that won’t be on the Flash client.
Once it’s released, we will slowly phase out the Flash client and there will be features available in it from release that are different or not available in Flash.
-Thorn, Club Penguin Rewritten administrator
An example of the kind of features to expect to be available on the new version is the more modern igloo system, which is something that has been highly requested as it allows you to save three igloos.
The team have previously said it’s being worked on, but we now know for certain that it won’t be on the Flash version.
Saving igloos and the new igloo system will be available in the HTML5 version from release which we won’t be bringing to the Flash version
-Thorn, Club Penguin Rewritten administrator
It was also stressed that the new technology opens up more opportunities for Club Penguin Rewritten. The team have considered a more modern version of the game, though this could take the form of people being able to switch between the version of their choice. However, that is realistically still a long way off, so please don’t get the impression that things are going to change immediately!
This is pretty significant though as it’s the first time that the Club Penguin Rewritten have gone into detail with their plans for next year, and I’m sure there’s more to be revealed. As always, when it is, I’ll let you know!
Thank you very much for reading, be sure to check back for more of the latest Club Penguin Rewritten news and guides!
Waddle on!

hey but our cpr acccounts will be used like the same cpr account so we dont have to create a new one
Torres 126
Yes, I wouldn’t read too much into the modern plans yet as they’re probably a long way off from actually happening, but I highly doubt CPR would just abandon the older “era” which we can currently play.

Hiya!

wait, what happened with the art style?
Torres 126
Effectively, Club Penguin had a different art-style from late 2012/early 2013-ish until the game closed. This is attributed to the “modern version/era”.
Club Penguin Rewritten won’t be replacing the current art-style in-game with this one anytime soon!

Flash shutting down is the worst thing that is happening in my opinion. There will always be games that people realize isn’t on the archives and be sad they can’t play it. I understand you guys are attempting to move the game onto HTML5 but don’t you think this means it’s no longer the same game. In 2021 all we will have are the following: cpips (because club penguin island is html5) and What should now be called, club penguin archived. Club penguin rewritten will be the only way now to play original cp until other versions are made. I remember playing club penguin around 2011 or 2012 and have basically grown up with flash. And now that will never be the case again.
Due to such I’d like to request something of the CPR team.
Like how tf2 made a memorial statue for Rick may I think you should put somewhere in a common area of the iceberg a statue commemorating flash as a platform.
Epicstormchaser#1063 ( I apologize if this is a second comment I just don’t see the first one)

I have to manually approve each comment, which is probably why it didn’t initially appear! But you can find it here now: https://clubpenguinmountains.com/2020/07/08/cp-rewritten-new-codes-coming-this-month/#comment-21728

Being able to add items to our puffles inventory after the update would be awesome
