CP Rewritten: Music Jam Delay Update

Happy August! Given that one of the most anticipated moments in July was the release of the Music Jam, I suspect that there might be a little confusion about why it hasn’t begun yet. As such, I wanted to quickly share this update provided by the team.

You’ll learn more [about the Music Jam] soon. Personally, I have no clue what’s going on with it, but I know Gravix is moving [homes] right now and he’s helping us out. [It’s] something about rooms being done and something about the User Interface being done. But yes, it’ll be out eventually – maybe whenever.

It reveals that most aspects of the party, including room and User Interface development, being completed. However, it’s not known yet what still needs to be completed, and it seems that the team has scrapped any sort of planned release time for the event.

Since the details are fairly vague at the moment, I’ll be sure to share anything new once it has been revealed! I’m assuming that there should hopefully be more information soon, though I hope this provides some clarity for those who were expecting the Music Jam yesterday.

Waddle on!

I hate to say it, but the team might have to scale back. I think HTML5 is more of a stinker than anticipated. If some parties slated for a certain month come out the following month, it’s not a big deal. However, time-sensitive parties like Halloween and Christmas will be ruined if they don’t drop on time. What do you think, Torres? After MJ, focus on Halloween and Christmas? It means we’ll miss some parties, most notably The Fair, which blows, but I don’t see how the team can do MJ, The Fair, and two holiday parties–and make them memorable–before year’s end.

I must admit, I agree that it does seem hard to see how The Fair could operate at the expectations which a lot of people might have for games if there’s going to be issues developing it. I think this party still seems relatively ambitious from the sneak peeks so far, but it’s clearly going to be even more challenging to convert the games from The Fair into HTML5. I suppose that the team do still have external developers which might help, but the delays to both this party and the previous ones definitely don’t inspire too much confidence.

At this point, I’d sooner have fewer parties for a more complete product. I understand the work constraints and issues with production, but since this has been a regular thing you’d think they’d adjust their schedule and tailor the community’s expectations to their working abilities.

Definitely an understandable sentiment – I suppose that the team would argue that they genuinely believed that the event would begin on time, especially since it has been developed for a while now, but might have been disrupted by Gravix moving? I’m not entirely sure, but I agree the community finds these delays frustrating.

I’m sorry, in the past, it’s generally been quite difficult for me to meet-up at specific times with individuals for various reasons ranging from timezones to unforeseen commitments. Of course, please feel free to send a friend request and say hello if you ever see me in-game! I’m hoping to maybe do another in-game event soon too.

“CPR party delayed”. Bruh at this point they might as well release news to say the parties are on time… No h8 tho, it is what it is

Honestly, the team feels like they have been falling apart ever since the move to html. Everything they write feels passive aggressive towards Gravix. Maybe they should focus on making the base game complete instead of rushing out poorly executed and poorly timed events.

I agree with most that I would rather not have as many parties… I personally would rather have the team focus their time on getting all of the games operational (especially my fav Card Jitsu!) and getting monthly catalogues back w/ newspaper. If that means that we only get a Halloween/Christmas party this year, fine with me. I just don’t feel motivated to go on, and when parties DO come out, the challenges are stuff I can complete in like a day or two, not making me want to stay on. I always loved looking at the newspaper, but I understand that is a lot of work though

My understanding is that separate developers are currently working on features such as Card Jitsu rather than events, so it should be possible for the team to maintain both simultaneously. But I do understand that frustration which you have too!
