    Please Return the Train!

    please-return-the-train

    Hey everyone,

December is dawning upon is quickly, and that means the return of another Holiday Party! Megg has seemed to suggest that it will be a copy and paste, meaning that it will be exact same, as the Holiday Party 2015. I’m disappointed in that for one reason…it means that the train won’t return. Club Penguin, you say that you read my website, so we have one request from you during this years Holiday Party.

Please return the train from the Holiday Party 2013!

I absolutely loved the train back then, and I’m sure I will now. It brings so many good memories and it was such a creative idea. Look at the players, even moderators, coming together and having fun for charity!

I’m sure that it wouldn’t be too hard to return it, but it would be enough to make me buy a membership for the first time in YEARS. That tells you how much I’d like to see this train return, and I’m sure many others do too. So, please Club Penguin, return the train.

    Also, let’s make sure there’s a night-sky during this party…

    Idea: Rating Parties

    Hey everyone,

I’d like to start of this post by apologising for the lack of new content coming out. I’m constantly checking the survey for ways to add more content and improve Club Penguin Mountains. I’m also hoping to do a lot for our 3rd Birthday which is dawning on us quickly.

Anyway, you’ve probably read my recent letter in which I criticised a lot of the game. In fact, even Megg told me she was going to check it out. Whilst I raised a lot of points, I didn’t raise many solutions. Today I have a solution to the problem of having parties return which we don’t like, such as the third Frozen Party/Takeover.

My idea is ridiculously simple, but it could have such a positive impact on our game. I’m actually surprised that it wasn’t implemented ages ago. Once a party ends, I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to rate it. For example, a message like this could appear the next time a player logs in after the party ends.

    Party Survey

What’s the purpose of this? Well, Club Penguin claimed that they returned the Frozen Party because many players wanted to see it again, however many were extremely angry when it returned. This way, they can really see the most popular parties which players would want to see again. It would solve the demand to stop takeovers as they could really see that players don’t, or maybe even do, like takeovers.

I respect that the final few 2D parties are probably already planned, but since there will eventually be parties when Project Super Secret launches, I think that the Club Penguin team should add it to the new game. Now, I’m not a coder, and I don’t know how difficult this would be to implement. But think of how much better our island would be if Club Penguin knew which parties we liked and which parties we didn’t. If the worse came to the worse, they could always have a poll on the Club Penguin blog, but this way, everyone is bound to rate the party.

It’s a win-win situation. Club Penguin gets to know which parties will get them more money. We get to have our favourite parties return.

    Waddle on!

The State of Club Penguin (Dear Club Penguin…)

    Dear Club Penguin,

Club Penguin has been the game of so many childhoods. When I joined seven years ago, it was perfect. The parties were memorable. The community who I met Save the Club Penguinin 2013 were amazing. This was the best game ever. Now, let’s fast forward to today. Club Penguin is just a business with a million problems which are being completely ignored. Nearly every decision, from two month long parties to an extremely poor effort to take cheating seriously and to the nail in the coffin, and the reason I’m making this post, Project Super Secret. Maybe I’m missing something and just being unreasonable but this isn’t remotely close to what I thought would happen two years ago.

Heck, you would’ve thought the team would have learnt from the #SavetheClubPenguin protests in 2014. They haven’t. Now look at today. It’s ten times worse.

    Club-Penguin-2011-10-20 00.25.24 - Copy - Copy[2]
Thanks to Saraapril for this image!
So, let’s start with takeovers. There’s nothing wrong with them. We loved the Marvel Superhero Takeover and the Star Wars Takeover, but when you’re bringing us 3 takeovers in a row, not even mentioning the fact that they last for two months, then there is something wrong. Is it just me or are FANS, yes, fans, are currently designing better rooms that Club Penguin? I don’t doubt their talent. That’s the reason we expect so much from them, because they have proved they can deliver amazing content. But the rooms are undecorated, left empty with the EXCUSE (not even the reason) that they were working on Project Super Secret, which we’ll talk about later.

I miss old Club Penguin, I really do. I miss those welcome screens on the right. But times have changed, and we have moved on. However, change is meant to be good. I ask you, who here (other than Dj Stores) actually prefers this new game in which the target audience is on average, nine years old? Club Penguin wasn’t designed to be create for kids. Even Rsnail said:

Want to learn a little secret about Club Penguin? I didn’t make it for kids. I made it for anyone that loves imagination.

Club Penguin is a world full of adventure, mystery and delight. You can be anything you want to be. A pirate that sails the seven seas, a thief that robs the pizza parlour, a ninja that masters an ancient legend, a secret agent, a barista or even an army that wages war on this little snow covered island.

I do not create kids games, I create games that kids can play. Club Penguin is for everyone

This was true. But why did Disney choose to switch their audience? Why are the parties LITERALLY logging on every day for a few minutes to click a few club-herbertthings. I thought they were meant to be challenging, which is what made them “educational”.  I seriously think one of the main reasons for Club Penguin losing popularity was because they changed the age of their target audience. Club Penguin (I know you’re reading this – you better be anyway), have you forgotten Operation Blackout? You a put an entire year into that party and it was an entire success. Recreate that formula.

Time + Effort + Plot + Challenging Activities + Design = Views = Money (which is all you care about, right?) = A better Club Penguin for players and Disney alike

Operation Blackout ticked all those boxes and as such, it was the most popular party ever. If you can replicate that, even on a smaller scale, you could even get away with a two month long party too. Why do you think so many people, even Riyita, keep bringing it up?

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not a big blogger, but when you’ve got people like Trainman1405 considering quitting a game which he has blogged about for many years, then there’s something wrong. However, I am part of the community (no matter what Dj Stores says), and I do hope you value our opinions. Megg promised that after Frozen, things will pick up and I really hope they do.

We’ll never get old Club Penguin back. It doesn’t matter how many protests or riots we create, it just won’t happen. But please don’t forget about the things which have made our game go on for over a decade. Don’t forget why our game is still here, and if I want to be really harsh –, actually, you probably know what I would say here and I don’t want to sound rude. I’m upset that Club Penguin is closing, but please carry these things on to the “new game” which we will talk about later.

bug huntingBugs, cheats, bots, exploits, you really just don’t seem to care. There are over 300 pages of bugs written on Trainman1405’s blogs, but the difference is, back in the day they would actually be fixed. You asked us to give you a list of bugs in mid-June. There were so many bugs written on that post. We did our part. It’s been two months, and I ask you how many of those have you actually taken the time to fix? I’m far from a game developer, but you’ve fixed bugs quickly and efficiently in the past. Why not have one person from your technical support team just work his/her way through the comments of that post and fixing the things that need to be fixed? I get that times are tough, but seriously, that bug where you click the safety survey and your screen freezes has been there for YEARS and don’t even get me started on the friends list. That’s just one of the many bugs on our island.

Oh, and cheating. This is a very…interesting topic. I’m not going to lie, however I conducted sort of an experiment on cheating. I called Club Penguin explainingdj stores botting again to them that I cheated. You literally didn’t even ask for my penguin name but instead said “don’t do it again” and hung up on me. Let’s skip back a few years ago, to when I really cheated on my main account. I told you guys, and you investigated the account. The day I got that response was the day I got banned. How come, when you’re getting reports, you ignore them now but you never used to ignore them? That is not right. Heck, you even have people who you know cheating. Like, I know you have a small team and you’re the creators of one of the best virtual worlds, but you advertise yourself as a safe place to play, even though there are Nazi symbols on popular places. I’ve talked about bots in the past, and I thought you would be on to them, just like you were when there were new exploits in 2014, but how wrong I was.

And the last straw, and the reason I’m making this post, Project Super Secret. In 2013, when Project Super Secret was announced, we were all excited, no doubt, but there wasn’t anything necessarily “wrong” with the game. I loved 2013, not going to lie. So we were wondering what it was. A few weeks ago, Spike Hike announced it was Disney Mix.

    .

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. You mean, you’ve been using the excuse that the downfall of the island would be worth it for a messaging app. I am extremely glad it’s referring to the new Club Penguin, but when was this change made? If you tackled the riots in December 2014, I wouldn’t have to be writing this right now. Anyway, let’s give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you began developing the new Club Penguin in 2013.

Was it worth it? That’s the question I ask you. This risk is such a big one. Couldn’t you be happy with what you had? Couldn’t you be happy with the wonderful times and memories which we shared in 2013? Why did you ask for more? Not to mention Club Penguin is going mobile-only. Actually, let me mention that there has been one day in 2014 where there were more players on mobile than there were on a computer.

Let’s start of with losing all our items. This was outrageous, but do you want to know what really makes me mad? You never told us until August 2016. Why? Did you want people to continue buying memberships without them knowing what’s about to happen? We should’ve known. We should have known.

Club Penguin is a live service and can be discontinued at anytime.

That is literally all we knew, and it was small-text. Did you really expect us not to be upset? Of course we’re upset! I dare to say that had you have told us this last year, you could have saved a lot of disappointment and anger. Oh, and thanks for giving us Project Super Secret sneak peeks. For once I agree with a racist person, smaller bloggers do deserve something. I’m not saying that so I get more views, I’m saying that because I’d get acknowledged. I’ve literally lost my motivation to blog, which is part of the reason I’m no longer creating about 20 posts a month. In 2013/2014, I used to have Polo Field following my blog. I felt as if I was actually being heard. For god sake, if I didn’t send this to you, would you really be reading it? It’s shocking when COMPANIES are interacting with us more than you. Oh, and we were hoping that the launch of Disney Mix would mean more interaction, in case you were wondering.

You need to clear up Project Super Secret. You need to make a post on the blog about it and come more clean. Because at the moment, here’s how I see it. I see that you have completely neglected our island under the excuse that you’ve been working on something that has been delayed by a year. I see that you’re going to mess Club Penguin up. You need to go on the blog, and you need to do a survey. That’s what Club Penguin needs.

    • How old are you?
    • Do you prefer mobile or desktop?
    • What would you rate the following parties

Because if you don’t believe us, hopefully you’ll believe your own research and statistics. This is only a quarter of what I have to say about Project Super Secret but you probably know what we have to say.  Why does it take me to explain it to you? 1001-(Marketing)-BullyPrevention-Billboard-Web_2-1412189283-1My question to you, Club Penguin, is why you chose to neglect our island. 2015 was the downfall. It really was. I struggle to say this, but if I was Spike Hike at the time, I would have not created Project Super Secret. You already have the app and desktop version. But it’s happened, so let us just hope for the best as I’m talking about a game which hasn’t even finished the development stages yet.

Oh, and going back to the community, thanks for “passing these ideas on to the rest of the team” and thanks for “investigating these issues”. Do you actually do that? Do you really listen to the players? Let’s be honest, the younger audience didn’t ask for a Frozen Party for the third time. Agent HushSomeone pointed out how kids were more likely to comment on the blog than send in an email and there weren’t “hundreds” of comments on the blog to return the Frozen Party. I really hope Megg’s promise (the rest of the year will be good) is true. I also hope I get a response, something more than just another copied and pasted reply.

I’m busy criticising the game and you might be thinking “the community makes our game the game it is”. A few years ago, Spike Hike retweeted this tweet. It’s no longer what “we make it”. Now the team decides, and they’ve been making some really terrible decisions. How are we supposed to #SavetheClubPenguin when we’re not even being heard? I’m not even sure if you’re going to just print out a copy and pasted reply and send it back to me. Address these concerns, please.

And you’re also probably thinking, wow Torres, you must really hate this game. Well, no! I freaking love this game. That’s why I’m making this post now. I’d just hate to see it dismissed as one of Disney’s many mobile apps because Club Penguin is more than just that.

    Yours faithfully,

    Scariness of the Halloween Party

The Halloween Party has occurred on our island every year since the game opened in 2005. Ever since Megg confirmed the party will be returning, many Halloween_Parties_logoplayers have become very excited. However, I’ve looked back at some of the most recent Halloween Parties in the game and compared them to “Old CP”. With October dawning upon us quickly, I reckon that the team would’ve begun designing the party, so now seems like a good time to put my points forward.

Is the Halloween Party as scary as it used to be?

    Discussion: Recap of Megg’s Information

    Hey everyone,

In case you missed it (which I did), Megg hosted a meet-up on Club Penguin yesterday. She gave us a lot of information about the future of Club Penguin, though not a lot about #ProjectSuperSecret. I know this isn’t a news blog, but I thought it’d be good to catch up as we learnt a lot! This post does contain spoilers, but nothing like room designs or leaked stuff. This is official by a Club Penguin moderator.

Either way, today I’m going to share some screenshots of the things she said. I did not take any of the screenshots however publishing them is fair use as they were already available on the Internet and this blog is purely for entertainment purposes. This is justified by the Copyright, Designs and Patent Act 1998.

The first two screenshots are from Bloxorz.

    image

Whilst this isn’t confirmed, it’s great to see that Megg is trying for a Music Jam in November! The Club Penguin community flooded the team with requests for this after the Frozen Party was announced for a third time. This does make me curious on what Megg means by “trying”. I wonder what the process for making a party happen is.

    image

A large portion believe that Club Penguin have overdone it with puffles. Me, I liked the puffle creatures but bringing the Olaf and alien puffles into the mix was too much. So, I am pleased to see that there won’t be any more. The question is, how long will this be the case for?

The next image was taken by Nico.

    image

Alright, I’ve been happy with everything up to this point. But as I’ve discussed before, Club Penguin have promised a whole load of Card Jitsu updates, in which the main one was Card-Jitsu Shadow. I want to know what reason justifies not having Shadow. It’s something thousands and thousands of players, including myself, have been excited for. I want to know why Club Penguin changed their mind AGAIN, like they do so so many times.

The next screenshot was taken by 1999bloo.

    image

Whilst we always knew that is was highly likely for the #ProjectSuperSecret beta to come out later this year, now it’s confirmed to. In case you missed it, Project Super Secret will launch fully in 2017.

I’m not sure who took the final two screenshots.

    image

“Weeks” is not a very accurate term. A large portion of the community have rumoured that it’ll be two weeks long, with some threatening to quit because of this, however I must agree. Take a look at the following:

    image

The Halloween Party is in October, and whilst I’m glad it’s returning, there’s no party in the middle. This suggests that Frozen Party will last a ridiculously long amount of time. But don’t worry, it stops at the anniversary. Does this suggest that Nico’s theory could be true, but except for #ProjectSuperSecret fully launching, the beta launches?

I will be extremely disappointed if we don’t get a Holiday Party. Hopefully we do. Anyway, thanks for reading! If you agree with any of my points, remember to email Club Penguin. The Music Jam is proof that the team is listening to us!

    Club Penguin Emoji Products!

    Hey everyone,

Just a few days ago, Club Penguin made a #ProjectSuperSecret sneak peek post for World Emoji Day where they featured some pretty epic emoji. This has gone viral throughout the Club Penguin community. A person I know, called Flippy, has been flooded with requests as he has managed to create some custom emoji, which is an awesome talent! In case you missed it, here’s what Club Penguin posted on their blog.

As this has become such a big hit throughout the Club Penguin community, I came up with an idea based around these emojis. Wouldn’t it be amazing if Club Penguin created some merchandise based around the emojis? What was just a fun thing posted by Club Penguin could make Disney a large profit!

For example, emoji pillows and cushions have been a popular craze throughout the world. I created this, though I’m sure Club Penguin could do a lot better by creating a cushion/pillow that has no background and is the shape of a penguin emoji. Here’s what I came up with:

    image

I think that one of the big advantages of Club Penguin emoji merchandise is that it could attract both players and non-players. I mean, who wouldn’t want a pillow of a really cute penguin? And what player wouldn’t want to own more Club Penguin merchandise? Dozens of different types of pillows could be produced.

That’s only the first of my ideas. Imagine phone/tablet cases, mugs, t-shirts, anything you can imagine. Club Penguin has partnered with Zazzle however the prices for Club Penguin merchandise on Zazzle is outrageous. I imagine these products in stores, not just Disney and toy stores, but in big brands throughout the world.

    image

In my eyes, these emoji have huge potential and it’d be a shame for Club Penguin to forget them. A whole range of products could be developed which would satisfy both players of Club Penguin, people who don’t play Club Penguin and Disney. The interesting thing would be the price though.

What do you think of my idea? Would you buy any Club Penguin emoji merchandise if it ever got into stores! Comment below!

Discussion: Tackling Bots & How to Make Them

If you’ve been on Club Penguin recently, chances are that you’ve seen hundreds of bots and clones on our island. In this discussion, we’re going to investigate

    Created by @CPOfficialMemes
    Created by @CPOfficialMemes

how to create these bots and how Club Penguin can stop these bots. You’ve probably been told that you should just report them to the team, but with thousands of them, how can they get them all? I think it’s possible, but they need to do more than just listen to what the community says.

From Googling, looking at Club Penguin’s history, analysing the information and a whole lot more, it’s time to share my findings.

    #ProjectSuperSecret Discussion: Penguin Survival

    Hey everyone,

Today another #ProjectSuperSecret clip was released by Megg, which you may watch by clicking here. Today I want to talk about something very interesting which I saw in the video. I’ve put together a theory of something that might happen once Project Super Secret is fully released in 2017. This is a picture of what helped me create my theory.

    Vending machines

In my eyes, that looks suspiciously like a vending machine. Although it could be a machine for clothes, I think it’s more likely for food seeing how this sneak peek was based around pizza. But usually with a vending machine, you pay money to get something. In this case, food. Why would you want to spend coins on food? At the moment, there is the Pizza Parlour and the Coffee Shop but you don’t need to go there. It’s simply for role-play.

What if that changes after Project Super Secret releases? What if penguins need to eat? My theory is that penguins will have to eat food after a certain amount of time. I think that this a rather cool idea as we would have a whole range of options to choose from, like fish from Ice Fishing. What I struggle to figure out is the consequences for not eating. It’s not like you can die from starvation in this game. What will happen if we just avoid eating? Will we lose coins? These are the questions that need answering.

This machine could just be there as a decoration but since there is a button on it, I am doubtful. It’s going to be really interesting to see what Club Penguin comes up with around this idea of penguins having to feed themselves. I am actually really curious to see how this will turn out. I’m sorry that this is such a short post. I didn’t know what else to say!

    #ProjectSuperSecret Idea: Custom Backgrounds

    Hey everyone,

You may remember the contest I held a few days ago where the question was “what would you add to Club Penguin?”. Pingping4069, the winner of the contest, suggested that custom backgrounds ought to be added. Today I am going to be discussing her idea as well as adding my own opinions.

Custom backgrounds is an excellent idea! It fits in perfectly with what #ProjectSuperSecret is intended to deliver: customisation. My idea for this is that it kind of becomes like a mini-game where you can create your own background using certain tools. At the end, you get to buy your background and wear it regardless of your membership.

I think it’d be awesome if there’s just a paintbrush and some paper. When you click it, you are greeted by a minigame interface. This was an image I designed (very bad image) on how it could look like.

    backgrounds custom

This was the original idea suggested by Pingping4069:

In my opinion, the team should implement custom backgrounds! How it works: The team has to implement a booth which will be located near the Clothes Shop that lets all players to use it to create custom playercard backgrounds. The first thing that they have to do is pick a primary abstract background. Then, each players needs to pick a pose for their penguins on the background. This is just like the mascot backgrounds but this time, the players gets a chance to make a background of their own. Lastly, each players can add optional stickers as a decoration and they can save their custom backgrounds and they can wear them anytime! This is my entry! Good luck for everyone else who attends this interesting competition. 😀

    Idea: Snowball Fights

    Hey everyone,

The Snow Forts is one of the most iconic rooms of the island that was opened in September 2005. The main point of the snow forts is to have snowball fights. However, let’s be honest. How many times do you see a good old snowball fight? Pretty much never. I hope to change that.

    Snowball_Fight

My idea is to create a mini-game for the Snow Forts rather than penguins just using the snowball feature. Some of you may remember the Game Day Nintendo Wii game. This actually had a game that was exactly like a snowball fight and it would be awesome if they could reintroduce it onto the web. I had great fun playing this game and it was one of my favourites!

    Snowball_Battle_Sneak_Peak

You may notice that the penguins are in 3D (they were like this in all events throughout the game) which gives #ProjectSuperSecret the perfect opportunity to introduce this game. I’m certain that millions of people would play it if it was as fun as the original Wii game.

Besides, it’ll add more fun to the Snow Forts and would add more competitively between penguins. Card-Jitsu has always been so popular as it’s one of the few games which players can compete against other players and this would be another game where penguins could do the same.
